Lets clean & do it safe with DIY natural cleaners.

How to natural DIY cleaners for stone and granite counters - several recipes
cropped-back-nfr6k.jpg

Lets safely naturally clean stone & granite.

peroxide cleanerSo you are finding out that DIY cleaners are so much better for your immune system, not only do they not break down the immune system they help build it up plus being safe, natural & very effective. But you after researching that Lemon, lime & Vinegar should never be used on granite or other natural stone. So what do people use to clean granite & stone, lets discuss several recipes.
Simply make these recipes right in a large spray bottle, amounts are approximate & can be adjusted to suit you & that is part of the beauty of DIY you can make it the way you like it.  If you decide to add different essential oils avoid citrus essential oil, but in all honesty Eucalyptus essential oil is great for cleaning natural stone & granite, do not use Thieves oil because most do have citrus in them. Tea tree oil & Lavender essential oil are also great options you can add with the eucalyptus or instead of.
Even though these are recommended by many & used by many (including me) always double-check your granite or stone wont be harmed by the cleaner, spot check if in doubt.

DIY Zit Stick and Blemish cream recipes using natural ideas for clear skin

Got Zits? Get rid of em!

back nfr6k
Did you know those expensive zit sticks & creams can easily & cheaply be made at home?
Thats right for pennies you can easily make a remedy for your zits that works., all you need is some coconut oil & some essential oils & maybe a few other thing if you desire.

Essential oils: For these zit remedies I will be using Tea tree oil & Lavender essential oil because they both are great for healing & preventing blackheads & pimples but not only that they are both great for skin, disinfecting & both dry blemishes, but these essential oils can be optional if you prefer. If you would like you can also add about a few drops of Rosemary essential oil if desired or a few drops of your homemade thieves essential oil blend.

Natural & Frugal / Photos by ChereeZit cream: I like to add 1/2 cup of raw coconut oil to a small jar with 10 to 30 drops each of the 2 essential oils & use one beater on my hand mixer & mix right in the jar (Directions here). Then simply store in the jar and add a dab to blemishes & rub in as needed Optional: Add a tbsp of shea butter or another healthy oil, add a pinch or 2 of baking soda &/or corn starch, do not add to much even though they are great for drying up pimples they can leave a powder residue if you add to much, simply mix with beater.

Zit stick: I save empty chapstick containers (like these) to add the ingredients for the zit stick to. This recipe makes 3 to 2 to 3  sticks so it may take a bit of trial & error or you can just let it cool in a chunk & use that way (similar to Madeon Hard lotion). in a small pot on med/low heat melt 2 tbsp of raw coconut oil & 1 tbsp beeswax (you can buy the beeswax pelts that melt easier or grate yourself) then remove from heat & add about 15 to 20 drops of essential oil, stir allow to cool only & bit & add to tubs or on a non stick surface to dry (or even to a small jar.container). You might adjust the amounts up or down for your own desired consistency. Add a 1/8 tsp shea butter or another healthy oil, add a pinch of baking soda &/or corn starch, do not add to much even though they are great for drying up pimples they can leave a powder residue if you add to much, simply add in while mixture is still hot.

Homemade DIY blemish zit zap away cream and stick recipes with essential oils

Other ways to combat zits:

Natural & Frugal: Raising 6 kidsMake an colloidal silver, activated charcoal & bentonite clay mask. add equal parts clay & charcoal with enough colloidal silver (or distilled water) to create a paste, apply to freshly washed damp face & allow to stay on 15 to 30 minutes & wash of with warm water & a baking soda paste if needed. You can also add any of the above essential oils or add Fixaderm.

You can also never wash your face with soap, only use baking soda or Borax & use things like Apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, coconut water vinegar, or citrus vinegar as an astringent to clean face.

My top 6 most used essential oils - must haves - Uses, DIY recipes, cleaning, body care, ideas and more

Essential oils are a big part of our natural DIY life.

My top 6 essential oils for everything DIY

essential oils 2
I get asked a lot by those just starting out what 6 essential oils I recommend the most for the most uses & how we use them, so I hope this blog post clears up that these questions. Essential oils can cost a bit at first but with proper use one bottle can last you a year, I buy them once a year. They are listed by the most used, so if you can only afford 3 I recommend the first 3, But the top 4 we could not live without I swear.
Some of our most used essential oils in our home: Eucalyptus, Lemon (or other citrus), Lavender, Peppermint, Tea tree oil & Lemongrass we do use others but these are the ones we use the most & they are our favorites.
I carry essential oil mixtures in my purse, check out what I carry here
More information on Florihana essential oils here & here

#1 I will start with our first & foremost favorite as a family, Tea tree oil:

Melaleuca oil (Tea tree oil) is an amazing essential oil, very powerful natural germ fighter, great for cleaning, skin, hair, deodorant & oral care to.
So many do not like the scent though, but Tea tree is one of our families favorite scents, we love long soaking baths with it or to add it to our diffuser or room spray.
Tea tree is also part of our favorite essential oil combo we add to so many of our cleaners & deodorant & so on, our combo is Lavender, Eucalyptus & Tea tree  essential oils to create our out right favorite scent combo.

Tea tree oil: Contains over 98 natural compounds. Tea tree oil is great at killing MRSA, it is antiseptic, fights infections, is great for skin issues(infections), athletes foot, ring worm, inflammation, wound care, anti-fungal, great for preventing & killing lice, for acne, dandruff, Anti-viral and anti-candida, great for sinus infections on & on. Also great used in oil pulling.

Recipes: add a drop or 2 of tea tree oil to your favorite shampoo, bath soaps, dish soaps, face creams & more

Face wash: Mix baking soda with warm water in a paste add a drop of tea tree oil & clean & exfoliate face, leave on a minute or to and wash with warm water.

Body butter: Add 1 cup of raw coconut oil to a jar, add 5 to 10 drops of Tea tree oil, (depending on how much you want). Add 1 tbsp of another healthy oil like real Olive oil, Argan oil or Jojoba oil etc, use one beater on your hand mixer & mix into a great body butter for skin, acne, rashes & more (more info here)

#2 Eucalyptus essential oil is not only a favorite in our home it is my favorite essential oil:

Eucalyptus to me is by far the best essential oil, it can lift my mood & get me going, it keeps my lung healthy (damaged lung) & it can totally make my mood better. Plus eucalyptus goes great pared with other essential oils such as Tea tree  (as mentioned above), with Lemon for many uses such as cleaning as I show in this blog post, with Lemongrass  for a great bug deterrent (other essential oil pest control ideas here), with Lavender for a soaking bath or a tingling facial (here), also great mixed with other mints like Peppermint for room deodorizer, cleaning, deterring spiders & to relieve sinus issues & in the best essential oil combo ever Thieves oil blend you can easily make yourself here. And guess what eucalyptus is great added to toothpaste & oil pulling.

Eucalyptus essential oil: (Eucalyptus Globulus & Eucalyptus Radiata) Eucalyptus oil is analgesic, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, & an expectorant, it also used as a natural cleaning solvent, it is great for cold, flu & Eucalyptus has a antibacterial effect in the repository system including upper respiratory, decongestants, pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, used successfully as an inhalant & a rub, as a natural deodorant, it is a fever reducer, Used on skin wounds, bruises, soreness, aches & pains, insect repellent, Eucalyptus promotes periodontal health, & fights against tooth decay, great for everything from acne, candida,  migraines to diabetes & ulcers & so much more,

#3 Lemon is such a refreshing clean scent that is more than just pretty:

Lemon essential oil is one of those essential oils when added to cleaners it cuts grime & grease & is amazing pared with Eucalyptus essential oil for cleaning. It is also mood lifting & is great diffused for a fast energy burst & healing to the body. Also great used in DIY skin care. It is also a must in the laundry room for us. And I use it in my DIY bleach alternative recipe sometimes found here. Lemon is also one of the essential oils you mix together to create the amazing thieves oil blend when you make it. Lemon is also great used in pest control, see here.

Lemon essential oil: (Citrus Limonia) Lemon oil  has strong antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiseptic & antiviral properties,  & is being used successfully for candida, riding the body of toxins & poisons, great used as an antidepressant, immune booster, for aiding digestion, it can be used for cold, flu, congestion, respiratory issues, nail fungus, cold sores, corns calluses, mood booster, & much more, It is also great for skin & hair & awesome in the laundry room.Lemon essential oil is a favorite in our home.

Clean any surface including chrome, stainless steel, mirrors, counter tops, stoves, toilets, sinks, faucets on & on, great for spot cleaning carpet & upholstery as well.

#4 Oh so soothing Lavender & a teen favorite in my home:

Do you need to relax or need a good nights sleep, for many Lavender essential oil is the answer to a much-needed rest, great as a linen spray & a room spray (here). You can also use it on acne or zits as my kids call them & it is great for burns, if you burn yourself grab the lavender essential oil & a box of baking soda & mix them with enough water to make a paste, or simply add some lavender to some aloe gel & apply or add to some water in a spray bottle for burns & sunburns as well. We also love it in cleaners & as was said above we love it mixed in with tea tree oil & eucalyptus for many things including DIY deodorant. Also great used in Pest control to repel mosquitoes and other insects, go here for info. We also use lavender for headaches & migraines & to kill & repel lice.

lavender is very effective at soothing, calming &  revitalizing

Lavender: Is used for restlessness, insomnia, nervousness, depression, digestion, loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, intestinal gas, upset stomach. pain, migraine headachestoothaches, sprains, nerve pain, sores,  joint painacnecancer, staph, it is  antimicrobial, a natural anti biotic, anti-fungal & more.

#5 Peppermint to breath better & to get rid of spiders too:

Thats right Peppermint causes spiders to run for the hills, so adding some to a spray bottle with water & spray where spiders tend to be, you can also add drops of peppermint to windowsills to keep spiders & mice away, add peppermint to areas where mice come into your home. But peppermint is also great in DIY oral care, in oil pulling, in diffuser to ward off illness & more. You can also mic peppermint with lavender & use it for panic attacks. Peppermint is also great as a kitchen & bathroom scent added to cleaners & as a plus as you clean you are deterring spiders & mice & other creepy guys (see my pest control post here). Also great for headaches. You can also mic peppermint & lavender essential oil for fast ease oof bug bites.

Peppermint: Kills germs, freshens breath, lifts moods, eases headaches, for nausea, as a muscle rub, soothing, for congestion, Peppermint has anesthetic, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, antispasmodic & carminative properties.

Recipes: Use peppermint in your DIY cleaners, room sprays, linen sprays & more.

Odor remover: in a bowl mix baking soda & peppermint essential oil & sit where you have odors.

Moisturizer/muscle rub): Add some peppermint essential oil to some raw coconut oil & use on your skin. Also great as sore muscle rub (for muscle rub you can also add eucalyptus essential oil &or Lemongrass essential oil).

To buy peppermint essential oil go here

#6 Lemongrass the often forgotten essential oil:

Lemongrass is a must in our home for DIY pest control as seen here. Some prefer lemongrass as a perfume I am not into it that way but we do use it plenty. Lemongrass is great in skin care & hair care, great for dandruff & dry skin. But as I said we mainly use it in pest control including keeping mosquitoes & no see ums away. But it is great used as a pain rub too.

Lemongrass : For insect repellent , detox, sedative, promotes lymph flow, circulation, for pain, stomach pain, healingantifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, dilates blood vessels, for respiratory, sinuses,  infection, high cholesterol, bladder, kidney & digestive health, fluid retention, varicose veins, & more.

Recipes: We mix Lemongrass in a spray bottle with water & use to ward of bugs like mosquitoes.

Pain: You can add lemongrass to oil like raw coconut oil & use on your body over pain, such as headaches, stomach aches, muscle soreness, bruises & more, great for healing things like ligaments, muscles, cartridge & more. It can also be added to a soaking bath or a foot bath.

Homemade Healthy fried chicken nuggets, snack time, meal time, kids love em, recipe

Healthy chicken nuggets recipe.

Do you have leftover chicken? Does your family love chicken nuggets? But you need a healthy recipe?
nuggets 009
You have got to love that you can make something so delicious, so easily & they are so much better & healthier than any you can buy, yumminess abounds.

What you need:

nuggets 010“If you order by clicking on any of my links & order from Tropical Traditions & have never ordered from them in the past, you might receive a free book on Virgin Coconut Oil, & I will receive a discount coupon for referring you"

Step one:

nuggets 008Flavoring mix: In a small saucepan on the stove over medium heat melt 1 stick of butter, 2 tbsp of Virgin coconut oil, 2 tbsp of water, add 1/2 tsp of salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp parsley, 1 tsp Chicken seasoning, & any other seasoning of choice, heat until melted (depending on how much chicken you have you might need more of this or less of this, this amount does a lot). Let sit to cool.

Step two:

I make the milk bath & flour coating to dunk the nuggets in before frying (milk bath also doubles as being added to food processor).

nuggets 004For milk bath: Put 2 eggs in a bowl, add 1/2 tbsp of organic Apple cider vinegar or coconut water vinegar, add 3/4 cup of milk of choice, add in a tbsp of flavoring mix from "step one",wisk together until mixed. (you might need to make more if doing a very large batch)

For flour coating: On a plate add 1 cup of coconut flour, 1 cup Einkorn flour, 1 tsp of the chicken seasoning, and a pinch or 2 of the pepper, mix with fork.

Step three:

I have a small food processor so I only add 1 cup of chicken at a time (I am sure a blender would work as well). So I add 1 cup of the leftover cubed or shredded chicken to the food processor, 1 tbsp of Einkorn flour, 1/2 tbsp of the flavoring mix from "step one", 1/2 tbsp of milk bath & add a small pinch of  crushed red pepper (optional), turn on processor & blend until still kinda chunky (not to smooth). Pull out into a bowl until all chicken has been mixed by repeating the process. (your chicken mixture should be sticking but thick enough to hold together).

Step four:

Work your chicken mixture into small balls, dunk first in milk bath coating all side, then dunk in flour coating & pressing down on nugget slightly to create a flatter nugget as you coat both sides, sit on plate & repeat until you have enough to start cooking.

Step five:

nuggets 006Get your pan or pot of Palm shortening or other healthy oil heating to med/high (we prefer 3/4 Palm Shortening & 1/4 of amount expeller pressed coconut oil). you want at least enough oil to be able to let the nuggets float.

Step six:

Slowly add nuggets to heated oil, add enough to fill pan but make sure they are not touching, you might need to adjust your heat up or down depending on if the nuggets brown to fast or do not cook right. after a minute or 2 you should be able to flip the nuggets to the other side with a fork, then after another minute or 2 they are done, pull out to drain on a cooling rack, a paper towel, etc until cooled enough to eat, repeat until all nuggets are cooked.

Step seven:

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce such as honey mustard, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, ketchup whatever.

nuggetsStep eight:  enjoy!

Tips:

You can use leftover chicken, leftover turkey or use raw chicken if you prefer. You can adjust the seasoning to your preferences, or use totally different seasonings or if you prefer add no seasonings.

DIY Kid Friendly natural hand sanitizer recipes - Sprays - Gels - Creams - How to - Toxic free

DIY hand Sanitzer for better health & avoiding toxins.

misting spray bottles, travel size
If you are like me you avoid commercial hand sanitizers & gels like the plague, as a matter of fact I might avoid them for me & my family more than the plague. But some of you might ask why? Well number one they are full of toxins, #2 those very toxins absorb into your skin & lower your immune system. Yeap the very thing you are using trying to avoid getting sick can actually contribute to you getting sick, not to mention the over use of the chemical Triclosan has been getting a lot of publicity, & it is lots of products so we also avoid those as well.

DIY Hand Sanitizer, for home, and on the go, great for kids

When it comes to hand sanitizers you want them to be safe, effective & build the immune system. After all sanitizers are used on your hands & if you are using sanitizers on small hands their hands wind up in their mouths, & any toxins go in their mouths as well. So yes DIY natural Hand sanitizers for me & my family for health, & we love they always have multi uses as well as are easily made.

Great ingredients for adding to hand sanitizers, so you can use one of my recipes or create your own, you can read about most of these items here on my blog by clicking the hyperlinks & they all are great germ & bacteria killers & many also kill fungus & all help build the immune system:
rosewaterYou can also add rubbing alcohol if you prefer & you can add aloe vera gel to recipes to create a gel hand sanitizer

I like to make spray mist sanitizers that I carry in my purse, use at home & on the go, I also like that they can also double as spray cleaners for things like toilet seats & grocery carts & more while being safe enough to use on small hands & faces. And also great as fast car, home, motel room deodorizers (or public restroom deodorizers). And they can also be used as DIY deodorant as well.

For my spray hand sanitizers I use a small travel size spay bottle (see my post on where I get my containers).

Spray Hand Sanitizer #1: Fill spray bottle with either straight vinegar, apple cider vinegar or citrus vinegar, you can also add 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil or essential oil combo such as Lavender, Tea tree, Lemon or Eucalyptus essential oils. This is a common sanitizer to find with me because vinegar is so versatile & effective for cleaning & sanitizing.

Spray Hand Sanitizer #2: Add 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oils in distilled water (like Lavender, or tea tree oil or Thieves oil). This sanitizer is one of those that is so easy to make but so effective, you can add the amount of essential oils desired & it can even double as natural perfume & room deodorizer, great for spraying on beds in motel rooms too.
spray bottle

Spray Hand Sanitizer #3: Straight colloidal silver can make the best hand sanitizer & it lasts a long time, you can also mix it with vinegar or rubbing alcohol or your favorite essential oils. I carry straight colloidal silver all the time, just make sure to add it to a dark glass spray bottle not plastic & never mix it with peroxide. Colloidal silver is so versatile you can use it to clean a toilet seat, to sanitize your hands, to disinfect the air, you can spray it up your nose for sinus issues & you can take it to ward off illness & to stop bouts of food poisoning even. (read my blog post on colloidal silver here)

Spray Hand Sanitizer #4: To the misting spray bottle add straight peroxide or do half peroxide & half lemon juice, you can also add essential oil of choice. Peroxide is a great non  staining, non bleaching cleaner that is an amazing germ fighting sanitizer, & when you add lemon magic can happen, sometimes lemon can be a bit to strong for sensitive skin so sometimes you may need to use less.

Spray Hand Sanitizer #5: Add 5 to 10 drops of your Thieves essential oil blend, fill the bottle up the rest of the way with either distilled water or colloidal silver & distilled water. A great natural hand sanitizer for on the go, for camping, in the diaper bag, in your purse, great for times when there is no water to wash your hands. Also works great for fast clean up of grocery carts, toilet seats & more. (learn how to make your own thieves oil here).

Spray Hand Sanitizer #6: Fill the bottle with floral water of choice, or half floral water & 1/2 colloidal silver. I prefer using rose water, then it can also double as a cooling mist & a mood lifter & even an on the go car deodorizer.

Cream Sanitizer: Simply make body butter using the raw coconut oil & essential oils like lavender, tea tree oil or your favorite combo. This is a great moisturizing sanitizer for all your skin. (body butter directions here).

Gel Sanitizer: Mix aloe vera gel with your favorite essential oils, options to add: Colloidal silver &/or rose water. I do not make gel sanitizers too much because we totally prefer the ease of using sprays, but my fans say they prefer using aloe gel so thank you for then sharing.
